Data covers PancakeSwap (BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum), Uniswap (Ethereum, Base and Polygon), and SushiSwap (Ethereum, Base and Polygon), all pool versions. Week 40 = week ending Sunday, October 4, 2026.
Week 40 saw $62,326,300 extracted from retail investors – down 7.1% from Week 39’s $67,084,135 (restated), but still the third-highest week of 2026. Weeks 38, 39 and 40 are now the three largest weekly totals of the year, back to back. Rug pull events eased 2.6% to 13,893 and new pool mints rose 1.4% to 19,061, while total pools tracked jumped 22.5% to 141,659, the highest count of 2026. The running total since 2026 tracking began now stands at $1,176,403,785.
Week 40 Key Numbers
Week 40 Analysis
Third-Highest Week of 2026 After a Modest Pullback
Weeks 38, 39 and 40 together account for $200,098,974 of extraction, the three largest weekly totals of 2026. Week 40’s $62.3M edges past Week 36’s $62.0M and sits 5.5% above the $59.1M average of Weeks 36-39. The 7.1% decline from Week 39 is small next to the swings seen earlier in the quarter, so extraction remains at the elevated level first reached in Week 38.
Slightly Fewer Events, Lower Average Extraction
Rug pull events eased 2.6% to 13,893 while fraud value fell 7.1%, so the average extraction per event slipped to $4,486 from Week 39’s $4,704 (-4.6%). That is still the third-highest weekly average of 2026, behind Week 38 ($5,641) and Week 39, with Week 36 ($4,467) just below. Creators added $119.3M (-1.5%) and removed $181.6M (-3.5%).
Tracked Pools Reach a 2026 High While Mints Hold Steady
Total pools tracked rose 22.5% to 141,659, the highest weekly count of 2026 and more than five times the 26,420 recorded in Week 34. The count has now stayed above 90,000 for five consecutive weeks (Weeks 36-40). New pool mints were far steadier, ranging between 16,402 and 23,144 over the same five weeks and standing at 19,061 in Week 40. As noted in earlier reports, total pools should be read separately from mint activity, since the two series have diverged since Week 35.
Removed-to-Added Ratio Falls for the First Time in Seven Weeks
Creators removed $1.52 for every $1.00 they seeded in Week 40 (1.523x), down from 1.554x in Week 39 and ending a run of six consecutive weekly rises that began after Week 33’s 1.389x. The rug-to-mint ratio was 72.9%, down from 75.9% in Week 39; in every week since Week 35, between 71% and 77% of new pool mints have ended in a confirmed rug pull.

Note on expanded coverage and restated figures: earlier weekly reports covered PancakeSwap on BNB Smart Chain and Uniswap on Ethereum. The tracker now also covers PancakeSwap on Ethereum, Uniswap on Base and Polygon, and SushiSwap on Ethereum, Base and Polygon (all pool versions), and the added coverage continues to be imported back across earlier weeks. Every weekly figure in this article therefore reflects the expanded scope and may be slightly higher than originally reported for the same week. Running totals are recalculated by summing every weekly value since 2026-W01 on this basis. For example, our Week 39 report showed 14,166 events, $67,080,251 of fraud and a running total of $1,114,012,303; on current data Week 39 stands at 14,261 events, $67,084,135 and $1,114,077,485. Event counts for early-2026 weeks were restated upward more sharply than dollar values, reflecting additional small pools imported by backfill. All figures use the corrected USD-only extraction methodology adopted 2026-08-05.
About This Tracker
ChainAware.ai’s weekly rug pull tracker monitors liquidity removal fraud across PancakeSwap on BNB Smart Chain and Ethereum, and Uniswap and SushiSwap on Ethereum, Base and Polygon, covering all pool versions. Rug pull fraud is defined as the USD-equivalent value of liquidity removed by the pool creator that exceeds the USD-equivalent value of liquidity added by the creator – a net extraction event, measured in USD-side value only. The tracker uses ChainAware’s predictive rug pull detection engine, which achieves 90.1% detection accuracy in V3 – see the full Rug Pull Detector methodology for how the model scores deployer wallets and liquidity events.
