Token Rank¶
Token Rank answers a question that price, volume, and social metrics can't: who actually holds this token?
It calculates the median Wallet Rank of every meaningful token holder — combining all ten parameters of on-chain reputation into a single score per token. Lower median Wallet Rank means higher holder quality.
2,500+ tokens across Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Base, and Solana. AI tokens, RWA, DeFi, and DeFAI categories.
The Problem With Conventional Metrics¶
Every signal investors rely on most is also the signal bad actors manipulate most aggressively:
| Metric | Cost to Fake |
|---|---|
| Twitter followers | ~$50 per 1,000 |
| Telegram members | ~$30 per 1,000 |
| Fake token holders | Hundreds in gas fees |
| Social media hype | Paid influencer campaigns |
Volume can be wash-traded. Holder counts can be inflated with dust airdrops. Price can be pumped with coordinated buys. None of these signals tell you whether the token is held by real, experienced, long-term crypto participants.
Token Rank does.
How Token Rank Is Calculated¶
Step 1: Identify all token holders across supported blockchains
Step 2: Apply a holding threshold filter — only holders with median-sized positions count. Small dust positions from airdrops don't qualify, preventing mass airdrop manipulation of the score.
Step 3: Run complete Wallet Audits on all qualifying holders
Step 4: Calculate the median Wallet Rank across the qualified holder base
Step 5: Score interpretation — lower median values indicate higher holder quality
The threshold filter is the key anti-manipulation mechanism. Sending dust to thousands of low-quality wallets cannot move the Token Rank because tiny positions fall below the counting threshold.
Six Holder Patterns That Token Rank Reveals¶
Pattern 1: Airdrop to New Wallets¶
Token Rank drops immediately — the airdrop introduced low-experience, low-quality addresses. Red flag: marketing hype that doesn't attract experienced participants.
Pattern 2: Targeted Airdrop to Experienced Wallets¶
Token Rank improves — suggests intentional community curation and genuine interest from quality participants. Positive signal.
Pattern 3: Experienced Wallets Have Already Exited¶
Dominance of newcomer wallets means sophisticated participants entered early and have since sold. The remaining holders are typically FOMO buyers.
Pattern 4: Low Risk Willingness Across Holders¶
Fragile price structure. Holders who prefer safety will sell quickly at the first sign of trouble, creating high volatility and sell pressure.
Pattern 5: Concentrated Quality Holders¶
Strong conviction signal, but also centralization risk. A few high-quality holders controlling large positions can exit decisively.
Pattern 6: Improving Token Rank Over Time¶
Organic adoption by progressively better-quality participants. This is the pattern that precedes genuine long-term appreciation — sophisticated money is accumulating.
Why Token Rank Is Hard to Manipulate¶
To fake good Wallet Ranks at scale requires:
- Sustained multi-year on-chain activity per wallet (DEX trading, lending, staking, bridging, governance)
- Meaningful capital deployment across multiple protocols
- Clean AML status with no sanctioned address connections
- Real time — wallet age cannot be accelerated
The economic cost of manufacturing fake holder quality at meaningful scale exceeds any realistic benefit from manipulating Token Rank. This is by design.
Practical Uses¶
Pre-investment screening — Two-minute check before entering any position. High Token Rank with strong holder quality? Experienced money is here. Low Token Rank dominated by new wallets? Likely a retail pump.
Divergence detection — A token with high social metrics but low Token Rank has manufactured hype and poor organic adoption. A token with low social presence but strong Token Rank has quiet sophisticated accumulation.
Category comparison — Compare Token Rank directly within a sector (AI tokens, RWA, DeFi, DeFAI) to identify relative quality rather than comparing across different market dynamics.
Protocol listing decisions — DEXes and CEXes use Token Rank alongside security audits for objective holder quality assessment when deciding what to list.
Early discovery signals — Improving Token Rank over time, before price discovery, indicates sophisticated participant accumulation. This is one of the earliest objective signals of genuine interest.
