Week 33 Analysis

Rug Events Hit Their Highest Level Since Week 23

8,861 rug pull events is the highest weekly count since Week 23’s 8,302, extending an upward trend now running for three consecutive weeks. Total pools tracked also jumped 16.0% to 13,625 – the highest pool count since Week 28 – and new pool mints rose 10.0% to 13,161, suggesting the broader token launch environment is accelerating alongside the rise in fraud events rather than lagging behind it.

Fraud Value Rises, But More Slowly Than Activity

The 6.2% rise in extracted fraud was smaller than the 12.8% rise in rug events and the 16.0% rise in total pools – unlike Week 31, where fraud value and activity moved in near lockstep. Average extraction per event fell to $4,188, down 5.9% from Week 32’s $4,451, indicating this week’s increase was driven primarily by a higher volume of rug events rather than any single event becoming more lucrative.

Removed-to-Added Ratio Continues to Ease

The removed-to-added liquidity ratio was 1.384x this week, down slightly from 1.412x in Week 32 – creators removed $1.38 for every $1.00 they seeded, continuing the gradual easing seen over the past two weeks even as raw fraud dollars and event counts both climbed. The rug-to-mint ratio ticked up to 67.3% from 65.6%, meaning a slightly larger share of new pools ended in a confirmed rug pull this week despite the higher volume of new mints.

About This Tracker

ChainAware.ai’s weekly rug pull tracker monitors liquidity removal fraud across PancakeSwap V2 and V3 on BNB Smart Chain and Uniswap V2 and V3 on Ethereum. Rug pull fraud is defined as the USD-equivalent value of liquidity removed by the pool creator that exceeds the USD-equivalent value of liquidity added by the creator – a net extraction event, measured in USD-side value only. The tracker uses ChainAware’s predictive rug pull detection engine, which achieves 90.1% detection accuracy in V3 – see the full Rug Pull Detector methodology for how the model scores deployer wallets and liquidity events.
